  What infuriates me is how short people's memory is

  You mentioned you are in Romania; don't know how old are you or your spouse, but if you are anything over 30, you should have personal memories of what the Causescu regime was. Even if you are younger, your parents no doubt have told you volumes about it....

  And what do people in Eastern Europe do when JWs show up at their door - they GO into another high control environment.

  If you were BORN into Communism and had no choice but to endure the abuse I get it, you roll with the punches. BUT WHY oh WHY put yourself into a similar environment. And if you were duped at first, when you see the bullshit, LEAVE!

  There are so many similarities between the MO of Communist governments and the WT, that it should be OBVIOUS to people who have personal or second hand knowledge of the former...

  Did the WT totally "luck out" with World War I starting in 1914?

  my family is still fixated on the 1914 date, simply because world war i started that year.. i told them i will agree it is a significant year in world history, but that the 1914 date as presented by jw's is based on lies and charlatanry.. i said "i think the wt really lucked out with 1914 with wwi starting that year - it keeps most jw's stuck on that date" .

  the standard answer is "well, that was the year everything went haywire"...... let the circular reasoning continue .

  As civicsi00 eluded to, the JWs moved the destruction of Jerusalem from 606 to 607 BC just to keep 1914? Amazing!

  I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in that board room when the subject came up and history was massaged (and had a tape recorder too )...

  Generation 'New Light' is Actually Working

  as ridiculous as it seems to me and most of you, the infamous 'generation' update has every jw that i know in a tizzy.

  they're all worked up about how 'exciting' it all is.

  i just received a letter from my mom (she only communicates through letters now), and she brought it up - how they carefully explained it at the convention, and how it shows that we are so close to the end.. unbelievable.

  I think there is another fringe benefit that goes along with the extension of the Generation:

  Justifies the increasing number of partakers.

  As the dwindling anointed number model is no longer applicable, this new second part of the Gen gives the Borg some breathing room in the partakers count department.

  "the immoral world in which we live threatens our unity.

  Library Visit # 2: 607 BCE vs. 587 BCE - With Pictures!

  approximately five weeks ago, i visited the local library and searched every book i could find that discusses the destruction of jerusalem in ancient times.

  if you didn't see that thread, you can find it here: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/bible/192813/1/607-b-c-e-a-trip-to-the-local-library-with-pictures.

  the results were conclusive: all secular sources agree that jerusalem was destroyed in 587/586 bce.

  Not preaching semi okay?

  so i havn't gone out in field service in something like 10 years.

  doesn't it seem wierd that for a religion and organization that stresses the importance of 'preaching the good news', that not doing so seems so low on the discipline list?

  seriously you can miss a couple of meetings and someone will probably feel you out to see if something (spirital or physical) is wrong.

  Have Any JW Leaders Told You Not To Have a Gun?

  i've heard of some jw leaders telling members of the congragation they shouldn't have guns for self defense.

  i mean, how is someone going to feel comfortable smiting your other cheek if you have...like...a .357 magnum pointed at their face?

  i'd probably smile and say, "hey, that's an unusual color for a bible!
